Cause¶
The following causes are possible. Please check each item.
Solution¶
Detector gas flow¶
Press HOME button - [Detector] to display [Detector] screen. Check that hydrogen gas, makeup gas, and air are supplied properly. Check also that their flow rates are appropriate.
When several detectors are configured in the analytical line, press a tab to switch detectors or press [LINE] in the top-right of the screen to switch lines and make settings.
* Actual value is displayed in the upper line, and the set value is displayed in the bottom line.
For each detector, the supply pressure required for each set flow is shown below.

Detector temperature¶
If the detector temperature is low, it may be difficult to ignite. It is recommended to set the detector temperature to 200 ° C or higher.

Column connection¶
Check that the column is connected. Check also that there is no leak at column connections.
Check that the column insertion length is appropriate.

Nozzle clogging (FID)¶
Check that the nozzle is not clogged. If any clog is found, maintain or replace the nozzle.
Inspection of FID Collector and Replacement of Jet
Column flow¶
- If the flame went off during back flush, decrease the back flush pressure.
- If the column flow is high, e. g. , when using a wide bore column, decrease the column flow or makeup gas flow. If it is difficult to change the column flow, increasing the hydrogen gas flow may prevent flame extinguishment.
