Procedures

Step 1

Stop the instrument. Then, on the instrument monitor or workstation, check that the temperature of the column oven is lower than 40 °C, check that the temperatures of the injection port and detector are 50 °C or lower, and check that the gas supply is stopped and there is no residual pressure.

Step 2

Install the connecting parts on the glass column.

Use the O-ring 4C P4 silicone rubber (⑤) and insert the parts into both ends of the glass column in the following order.

Acorn nut, washer, spring, back ring, silicone O-ring

Note

Place the back ring so that the flattened surface is on the silicone O-ring side.

Use the graphite ferrule (⑥) and insert the parts into both ends of the glass column in the following order.

Acorn nut, washer, spring, back ring, graphite ferrule

Note

Place the back ring so that the opposite side of the flattened surface is on the graphite ferrule side.

Step 3

Pull the column oven door latch toward you to open the column oven door.

Step 4

Insert the insert for SINJ (③) halfway into the injection port.

Step 5

Insert the insert for SINJ (③) into the glass column.

Note

When removing the glass column, the glass insert comes down together with the glass column. Caution should be exercised to prevent the glass insert from falling down.

Step 6

After inserting the glass column into the injection port side and the detector side, respectively, tighten the acorn nut by hand.

Note

If the cap nut is difficult to tighten, remove the washer, install the column, and then tighten the cap nut.

Step 7

Tighten and fix the acorn nuts on the injection port side and the detector side with a spanner (① or ②).

Note

When using the O-ring 4C P4 silicone rubber (⑤), tighten and fix them lightly.
When using the graphite ferrule (⑥), tighten them about 1/3 to 1/2 turn to fix them.

Step 8

Close the column oven door.

Step 9

Start the GC.
