Procedures

Step 1

Remove the cover as described in Installation and Removal of Maintenance Cover .

Step 2

Remove the vial guide.

  1. Loosen and remove the fastening screws (①) of the vial guide (M4x2) using the Phillips screw driver.
  2. Slide the fastening clasp (②) to the back.
  3. Pull out the vial guide (③).

Step 3

Remove the needle.

  1. Position the wrench (1/4 inch × 5/16 inch) as shown in the figure below, and remove the nut on the needle side.

  1. Using your hand, grasp the area indicated by the circle in the figure below, and bend it slightly to the right to remove the nut on the valve side.

  1. Lift the nut on the needle to remove it.

The needle tip is sharp and poses a puncture hazard.

Step 4

Check that the tip of the needle (①) is in the proper condition (②).
If the needle tip (③) is blunt or clogged, replace with a new needle.
If the needle needs cleaning, follow Needle Cleaning Procedure .

Step 5

Perform steps 2 to 4 above in reverse to install the needle and vial guide.

If a sample loop also needs to be replaced, perform Sample Loop Replacement Procedure before attaching the needle.

  1. Lightly tighten the nut on the needle side (enough so that the piping on the valve side can be moved by hand).
  2. Using your hand, grasp the area on the valve side indicated by the circle in the figure below and bend it slightly to the right, then install the valve side nut to the valve and tighten it lightly.

  1. Use the wrench to further tighten the nut on the valve side and the nut on the needle side by a 1/4 turn.
  2. Install the vial guide so that the larger notch (①) is on the front side.

  1. Slide the fastening clasp forward while holding down the vial guide and tighten the two fastening screws.

Step 6

Install the cover as described in Installation and Removal of Maintenance Cover .
