Procedures

Since a high-temperature cap will be exposed to a high temperature, the cap may leak if tightened in the same way as the pressure-release type.
A high-temperature cap must be sealed more tightly than the pressure-release type.
The crimper must be adjusted according to the type of vial cap (e.g. pressure-release cap, high-temperature cap).

Step 1

Before trying on samples, check the crimper operation first with an empty vial according to Crimping a Vial Cap .
If there is no problem found with the crimper operation, the following crimper adjustment steps can be omitted.

Step 2-1

When using a manual crimper such as the type shown below

When changing from the pressure-release vial cap to the high-temperature vial cap
Using a hex wrench, turn the crimper adjustment screw once to the left from the position for the pressurerelease vial cap.

Do not turn the adjustment screw too far to the left.
A vial cap or a vial may become damaged and will not seal once deformed.

Step 2-2

When using a manual crimper such as the type shown below

Do not turn the adjustment knob too far in the + direction.
A vial cap or a vial may become damaged and will not seal once deformed.

Step 2-3

When using an electronic crimper such as the type shown below

Do not press the + button too many times.
A vial cap or a vial may become damaged and will not seal once deformed.

Do not use an electronic crimper or decapper with a high-temperature vial cap as the vial may become damaged.
Electronic crimper and decapper are only used with the pressure-release type vial cap.

Step 2-4

When using an electronic crimper such as the type shown below

Do not press the ▽ button too many times.
A vial cap or a vial may become damaged and will not seal once deformed.

Do not use an electronic crimper or decapper with a high-temperature vial cap as the vial may become damaged.
Electronic crimpers and decappers are only used with the pressure-release type vial cap.

Step 3

Once a crimper and decapper are adjusted, sealing should be checked with an empty vial before trying on
samples according to Crimping a Vial Cap .
Repeat the adjustments until a proper sealing is obtained.
