Procudures¶
Step1¶
Check from the instrument screen or workstation that the column oven temperature is below 40°C, and the temperatures of the injection port and detector are 50°C or below.
After confirming, turn OFF the main power of the instrument.
Step2¶
Open the INJ/DET cover (★1).
Step3¶
Disconnect the VENT tubing (★2) of the STCD.
Step4¶
Open the GC oven door and remove the STCD insulation cup (★3).
Step¶
Remove the STCD column adapter (★4).
Step6¶
Place a container (such as a beaker) directly under the STCD in the oven to catch the cleaning solvent.
Step7¶
Using a pipette, dropper, or similar tool, flush the cleaning solvent (hexane or acetone) from the VENT tubing outlet (★2). The cleaning solvent will flow out from the column adapter into the container.
Do not connect a disposable syringe or similar device directly to the VENT tubing to apply pressure while injecting the cleaning solvent. This may cause the filament to break.
Step8¶
Repeat Step 7 about 20 times. (The amount of cleaning solvent will be approximately 50 to 80 mL.)
Step9¶
Connect the VENT tubing (★2), insulation cup (★3), and column adapter (★4).
Step10¶
Close the INJ/DET cover.
Step11¶
Turn ON the GC power and allow gas to flow through the STCD for at least 30 minutes.
Keep the STCD temperature lower than 50 °C while the gas is flowing.
Keep the filament OFF.
Step12¶
Set the STCD temperature to 110°C and wait for about half a day for it to stabilize.
Keep the filament OFF.
