Entering Maintenance Mode (Using Workstation)

The instrument can be smoothly stopped and resumed by using the [Easy sTop] function on the workstation.


Procedures (Entering Maintenance Mode)

Set the instrument into maintenance mode by using the [Easy sTop] window on the workstation.
When using LabSolutions, the [Easy sTop] window can be displayed by clicking any of the following buttons:

Step 1

Click the [Start] button in the [Easy sTop] window. The cooling for the injection port and oven starts.

Step 2

When the [Press the Stop Carrier Gas button] message is displayed in the window, click the [Carrier Gas Stop] button in the [Easy sTop] window to stop the carrier gas.

Hint
  • This step is not performed if [Carrier Gas Stop] is set to [Auto]. The instrument automatically enters maintenance mode.
  • When using GCMS, please set [Carrier Gas Stop] to [Manual].

Step 3

When the [Replace the septum and/or liner] message is displayed in the window, the transition to maintenance mode is complete. The septum and insert can then be replaced. For details on the replacement procedure, see the following:


Procedures (Exiting Maintenance Mode)

When [Leak Check] is set to [On], see this procedure .
When [Leak Check] is set to [Off], see this procedure .

When [Leak Check] is set to [On]

Step 1

Click the [Setting up] button in the [Easy sTop] window. The leak check is performed.

Note
  • If the leak check passes, the instrument exits maintenance mode and performs setup to resume original state. When [Complete] is displayed in the window, close the window and proceed to Step 5 .
  • If the instrument fails the leak check, [Leak Check Failed] is displayed in the window. Proceed to Step 2 and enter maintenance mode.
  • No leak check is performed if the carrier gas for GCMS is nitrogen.
  • When using GCMS-QP2050, check for leakage from the intensity ratio of m/z 69(PFTBA) and m/z 28(Air) monitored by MS. The criteria can be changed by launching the [Analysis] program and clicking on [Main] assistant bar > [System Configuration] > [MS] Properties > [Test Values of System Check/Auto Tuning] > [System Check]Tab > [Vacuum Leak(Intensity Ratio of 69/28)].
Step 2

If [Leak Check Failed] is displayed in the window, click the [Carrier Gas Stop] button in the [Easy sTop] window. The instrument stops the carrier gas and enters maintenance mode.

Step 3

When the [Replace the septum and/or liner] message is displayed in the window, check the connections at the locations where maintenance was performed.

Step 4

After checking the locations where maintenance was performed, click the [Setting up] button in the [Easy sTop] window. The leak check starts. If the leak check passes, the instrument exits maintenance mode and performs setup to resume original state. When [Complete] is displayed in the window, close the window.

Note
To finish Easy sTop without a leak check, change the [Leak Check] setting to [Off] before clicking the [Setting up] button in Step 4.
Step 5

Reset the number of uses for the replaced consumables. For details, see Resetting the Consumable Usage Count .

When [Leak Check] is set to [Off]

Step 1

Click the [Setting up] button in the [Easy sTop] window.
The instrument exits maintenance mode and performs setup to resume original state. After the carrier gas flows for a specified amount of time, the temperature control for the injection port and oven resumes. When [Complete] is displayed in the window, close the window.

Step 2

Reset the number of uses for the replaced consumables. For details, see Resetting the Consumable Usage Count .


Resetting the Consumable Usage Count

Reset the number of uses for the replaced consumables in the [Consumable Reset] window on the workstation.
When using LabSolutions, perform any of the procedures described below to display the [Consumable Reset] window.

In the [Consumable Reset] window that is displayed, click the [Reset] button to reset the number of uses for the replaced consumables.
