Procedures

Step 1

Press

(HOME) - [Detector].

Step 2

Set [Temp] at a value lower than "50.0 °C", and set [Power controller] to [Off].

Step 3

Ensure that the temperature of each unit drops below 50 °C.

Step 4

Ensure that gas supply is stopped.

Step 5

Turn off the main power of the instrument (power button does not illuminate).

Step 6

Open INJ/DET cover.

Step 7

Loosen 2 collector fixing knurled screws.

Step 8

Remove collector cover.

Step 9

Turn FTD collector counterclockwise to loosen it.

Step 10

Remove FTD collector.

Step 11

Loosen screws with Allen wrench supplied with adapter for collector reproduction (④), and remove collector knob.

Step 12

Install adapter for collector reproduction (④).

Step 13

Tighten screws with Allen wrench and fix adapter for collector reproduction (④).

Step 14

Turn the collector upside down and install it.

Step 15

Alternately tighten the upper and the lower collector fixing knurled screws a few times.

When either one is tightened, the other one may loosen. Be sure to tighten them several times and check that they are fixed appropriately.

Step 16

Turn on the main power of the instrument.

Step 17

Press

(HOME) - [GC Start/Stop Sequence] to display [GC Start Sequence] window, and press [Start GC].

Step 18

Press

(HOME) - [Detector] to display [Detector] window, and set [Control Mode] to [Voltage].

Step 19

Set [Voltage] at [0] and set [Power controller] to [On].

Step 20

Increase the value of [Voltage] gradually while checking red hot of filament of alkaline source.

Continue it until the filament turns pale orange.

Step 21

Lightly put supplementary alkaline source bar into contact with the coil using tweezers and melting it little by little to add alkaline source on the coil.

Note
  • When heat capacity increases, the coil becomes dark, and supplementary alkaline source attaches to the coil, increase the voltage by about 5 to 10 %. After it becomes red hot again, remove unneeded part.

  • Excessive addition of alkaline source decreases the sensitivity of the analysis. It should be a light coat (outer diameter of 1.8 to 2 mm) on the coil.

Step 22

After the addition, increase [Voltage] by about 5 to 10 % and adjust the shape of alkaline source on the coil.

Step 23

When the surface becomes smooth, set [Voltage] at [0] and set [Power controller] to [Off].

Step 24

Set [Control Mode] to [Current].

Step 25

Loosen 2 collector fixing knurled screws.

Step 26

Remove collector cover.

Step 27

Remove adapter for collector reproduction installed on FTD collector, and install collector knob.

Install it in reverse order of step 8 to 11.

Step 28

Install FTD collector and turn it until it reaches the bottom.

Note

Excessive tightening may break the filament. For installation of FTD collector, do not use tools including drivers and install it by hand.

Step 29

Install collector cover.

Step 30

Alternately tighten the upper and the lower collector fixing knurled screws a few times.

When either one is tightened, the other one may loosen. Be sure to tighten them several times and check that they are fixed appropriately. If collector fixing knurled screws loosen, red hot of alkaline source may be incomplete and it may cause decrease of sensitivity.

Step 31

Close INJ/DET cover.

Step 32

Perform conditioning.

Perform conditioning to adjust alkaline source and reduce impurities that cause noises.

  1. Press

    (HOME) - [Detector].

  2. Set [Voltage] at about [1.00].

  3. Set flow rate of hydrogen, Air, and makeup gas at the same values as the analysis.

  4. Set [Adjustment Time] at about 3 to 5 hours.
