Maintenance works must only be undertaken after the temperature of each part has been lowered to less than 50 deg.C.
Place any detached items on a clean sheet or tray. Do not lose or contaminate these items.
Undertake the works using the appropriate tools. Any dirt on the tools being used must be wiped off in advance using gauze etc. dipped in acetone.
Do not remove the photomultiplier unit while the system is operating or the FPD is on as this may damage the photomultiplier.

Shutdown the system and stop the gas supply for detectors. |

Loosen the knurled screw and remove the FPD cover.

Loosen the 2 photomultiplier unit fixing knurled screws.

Slowly pull the photomultiplier unit out to remove it. Cover the photomultiplier receiver with aluminum foil etc. to avoid exposure to intense light. |

Remove the cooling duct. |

Remove the 2 body unit setscrews. |

Pull the body section out upwards with the body section fixing plate.

Temporarily lower the shield ring to the bottom. |

Adjust the jig to the desired thread level of the inner rod by turning the outer tube. The bottom thread adjusts the nozzle tip and the shield ring at the same height. Normally adjust it to the lowest thread level. The thread pitch is 1 mm. |

Place the adjustment jig on the nozzle so that the nozzle tip is seated in the concavity of the inner rod. |

Raise the shield ring to the outer tube level by turning it.

Remove the shield ring adjustment jig and insert the body unit with the body section fixing plate. |

Tighten the 2 screws to fix the body section. |

Put back the cooling duct. |

Slowly attach the photomultiplier unit. |

Tighten the photomultiplier unit fixing knurled screws to fix the photomultiplier unit. Check to ensure that it has been fixed tight. |

Put back the cover and tighten the knurled screw. |

18 |
Start up the system. |
